APPLICATION PROCESS

THERE IS A FIVE PHASE PROCESS TO BECOMING A FOSTER PARENT

Below is an overview of the certification and licensure process. All requirements are listed below, and the process takes approximately 90 days to complete. Your background information will be submitted to the State of Texas. Kingdom Kids Child Placing Agency helps all of the applicants through the entire process.

Phase 1 – Initial Application:

The very first step! Make an appointment to come into office for application and assessment.

Phase 2 – Background Checks:

  1. Submit a finger print card for all individuals (18 or older) living in the home.
  2. Complete the Background Investigation Unit form listing all persons living in the home. FBI badge fingerprinting  / dfps / local criminal background
  3. Complete the Texas Department of Human Service system release of information form

Submit items 1 through 3 with the appropriate fee for processing

Phase 3 – Foster Care Orientation and Training:

  1. Complete Orientation and learn about the agency and expectations.
  2. Pre-certification foster parent training
  3. Complete family health evaluation form for everyone residing in the home
  4. CPR/First Aid requirement must be obtained through a certified state provider
  5. Medical Administration Training

Phase 4 – Home study 40 hrs of observation (new parents):

  1. A home safety inspection will be completed by Kingdom Kids Child Placing Agency representative
  2. Submit forms and documents for all individuals (18 or older) living in the home.
  • Discipline Policy Form
  • Child Rights Form
  • Biological Child Abuse Form
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Official Contract between Kingdom Kids Child Placing Agency and you, the Provider
  • Multicultural Fostering Form

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Current Drivers License or State ID
  • Current Vehicle Registration
  • Proof of vehicle insurance
  • Current Pet vaccinations (if applicable)

Phase 5 – Approval

After successful completion of all the requirements LCPA approves your foster care status. Foster children will be assigned to your home.

Our organization offers unique and in-depth training to meet the requirements for your licensure, and we offer resources and recommend vendors for those we are not able to provide internally (like CPR or First Aid training). We even open up our trainings to families that were not placed using our agency – we care about the success of your family, not where you filed the paperwork.
